No matter where they were in the standings the Cardinals and Cubs have always taken the focus in the NL Central and for another year they will do the same no matter where they finish even if they sit at the top again.

The MLB Trade Deadline is approaching and teams will look to become sellers or buyers as they get ready for the postseason run or for next year but with teams more aware then ever those last-minute deals might not happen.

The MLB is fast becoming a pitchers league as the dead ball era has returned and pitchers are taking over. The offence has taken a dive since the steroid era and teams are always trying to find the players that can break this apart. There are still the teams that have a good offence but those teams can be shut down by a better pitcher. That makes pitchers the most valuable asset to any team as teams are all trying to find that true ace. They are looking for the pitcher that can change a game or the pitcher that can take the mound and is a guaranteed win.

The MLB has a trend brewing and it is the continuation of a new era in baseball that has been mention in this blog many times. The steroid era is finished and instead comes the dead ball era 2.0 as the pitchers are taking over once again. It doesn’t mean that offence is completely disappearing but pitchers are now emerging as the stars over the batters.

The MLB Season began this week as teams began the long trek towards the World Series with their first games that meant something. The opening week of the MLB season is always a strange one as the truth finally comes out about teams around the league. It is not a whole truth though as teams can fool a lot of people at the beginning of the season.

The West is looking to rule this time around as there are a number of teams looking for their chance to represent the division in the postseason. The American League West is likely the only division that can even challenge the American League East for the title of the best division in baseball. They are making an even better case for it as the season approaches with teams making moves and winning games.
