The American League East has long been considered the best division in baseball as they have regularly seen teams at the top of the league. The division contains some of the most legendary teams in the MLB and every year they seem to be on top of the league. That can make it extremely difficult for teams to make a run at the top of the division. With the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox constantly winning the division the other teams find it hard to break through and win.

There are plenty of teams that will likely not make it but for the few that have a chance, these next weeks are more important than ever. The Midseason point of the season is fast approaching as players and managers prepare to go to New York for the All-Star game or take a break in the middle of the season. It is a point where the teams and players around the league can truly take stock of where they are. The MLB season is 162 games long and is clearly the longest season in professional sports.

The American League Central is a division on the decline in recent years but in 2013 a number of teams will try to bring the division back. The last few years this division has followed a very specific pattern as there is always one dominant team. That team used to be the Minnesota Twins who would win the division almost every year.
