CIS Football Report (Conference Finals)

I have said many times before that winning consistently in college football is the hardest thing to do because of how teams are made. In college football teams are only together for a limited time as they come in to the school and then graduate. In the CIS there are only a maximum of 5 years for every player to play on any team as after that they no longer have eligibility.

CIS Preview: Road to the Vanier Cup

The CIS is one of the two college football leagues in North America although it rarely gets noticed. The NCAA is the one league that overshadows the CIS every year as they are bigger and have a lot more money. The TV deals are larger and the players are the future of the NFL in the NCAA with college football bigger in many places than professional football.

CIS Football Report (National Semi-Finals)

CIS Football is only one week away from the 47th Vanier Cup as the National Playoffs began last week. With the Conference finals finished the CIS saw four teams left battling for the Vanier Cup. The McMaster Marauders had taken out the #3 Western Mustangs in the 104th Yates Cup behind their CIS leading offence.

What 2 Watch (Nov. 18-20)

Another busy weekend in sports will get underway Friday as there will be something for almost everyone. Football continues to dominate TV with a number of big games on the schedule with most leagues entering the end of their seasons. The CIS will see two big games this weekend as the Uteck Bowl and the Mitchell Bowl will determine the two teams to face off next weekend in the 47th Vanier Cup.

CIS Football Report (Conference Finals)

The CIS playoffs continued this week with the conference finals taking place as teams looked to win their conference. With a win the teams would move one step closer to Vancouver and the Vanier Cup as they will enter the National playoffs. It all kicked off on Friday when the CanWest wrapped up their season with the Hardy Cup between the Calgary Dinos and the UBC Thunderbirds.

The Road to Vanier 2011

The Vanier cup will make an interesting trip this year as it will begin to tour along with the Grey Cup. The first stop in this new deal will be in Vancouver the day before the Grey Cup in the newly renovated B.C. Place. It will be the 47th time the trophy is handed out. Last year the game was played in Quebec City at PEPS Stadium on the campus of Laval University. It became a big advantage for one team as the Laval Rouge et Or faced off against the Calgary Dinos.

CIS Keeps Getting Better

Canadian Interuniversity Sport is the governing body for all University sports in Canada and have a number of great sports under their umbrella. The crown jewel of the CIS would usually be the hockey being in Canada where the sport is kings. CIS did not follow this however as with other competition, including NCAA and Major Junior hockey, it is not the biggest CIS sport. Instead the biggest sport and the crown jewel in the CIS cap is Canadian Football that is broadcast on TV throughout Canada and is quickly becoming bigger
