The issues in the AUS certainly didn’t help to get a struggling conference back on their feet on the national stage as powerhouses are back in U sports and two of them will face off for the ultimate prize after the National Bowls.

The CIS season is at an end with only one more game left before the best team in the country is determined at the 49th Vanier Cup. Before any team could punch their ticket to Quebec City for the championship they would have to go through the Uteck and Mitchell Bowls. That would bring about the Bowl week in CIS football and a week that perfectly expresses the system that the CIS uses to ensure the two best teams in the country make it to the championship.

College Football in the states is constantly in the news with lawsuits and the constant debate over the bowl system. In Canada it is quite different as the system is what many wish the NCAA was. The playoff system in the CIS is a great one but it does not prevent one team from dominating most years.

As the CIS season came to a close there seemed to be one major theme as consistency ruled the day and the year in the CIS. For the first time ever all four Conference Champions would repeat sending the exact same four teams to the National Bowls. Calgary, McMaster, Laval, and Acadia would all return to the National Bowls this year with two teams looking to continue the trend and two looking to end it.
