Featherweights Put on a Show in Brazil (UFC 142)

The UFC has never seen a Featherweight or a Bantamweight main event since the start of the new divisions. The reason for this is that these lighter weights tend not to put on the most explosive fights, in terms of finishes. They do but on some electric fights though with speed and quickness that is not seen in any other division.

UFC will make a return to the home of Jiu Jitsu as they will be going to Rio de Janeiro Brazil for the third time in their history and the second time under Dana White. The Brazilian fans are sure to see some great fights and some of the best Brazilians in the UFC.

No BJJ Needed in Rio

The UFC made a long awaited return to the home of Mixed Martial Arts on Saturday for UFC 134. Brazil had been waiting for the top MMA promotion to return for over a decade and UFC finally decided to make their wish come true. Ever since Brazilian Royce Gracie brought Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) to MMA nothing has been the same. Now BJJ has become a must for fighters who wish to be successful in the UFC and the Gracies are still a major part of this training. With this popularity one would have assumed that BJJ would be on display at UFC 134 with at least one Brazilian in every fight.

The UFC has spent the better part of the last two years increasing the future of the sport around the world. They have travelled to the Middle East, Europe, Canada, and almost everywhere in the USA. Now it is time for the king of Mixed Martial Arts to go back to their roots as the UFC prepares for their first event in Brazil in over a decade. The sport of MMA had been around for a very long time but it wasn’t until Royce Gracie entered the octagon and dominated using the previously unknown discipline of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. This changed MMA forever and began the seedling of what the UFC would build on. Now with the UFC being the fastest growing sport in the world they will go back to Brazil with a card full of the best fighters in the world that also happen to be Brazilian
