The MMA world is not an extremely large one as everyone seems to know everyone else and they all run the in the same circles. There are only a small number of promotions that see the top fighters and so two fighters from the same division are likely to run into each other at some point if they fight long enough. That was the case for Gegard Mousasi and Ronaldo Souza who met much earlier in their careers during the Dream 6: Middleweight Grand Prix in 2008.
UFC Fight Night 50 Preview
The UFC is fresh off of an embarrassing weekend with their main event suffering a last-minute change. The UFC had never been in that situation before as only 24 hours before they were set to fight the main event between T.J. Dillashaw and Renan Barao saw a change with Barao being forced out. The UFC was sent scrambling and found a last-minute replacement who put up a good showing but never really had a shot.
