The UFC decided to add the women’s for a large part because of one fighter, Ronda Rousey, but also because the UFC is constantly changing. Women fighting are is not a new thing in the MMA as many promotions including Strikeforce and Belator have been holding women’s fights for years. As women like Gina Carano began to enter into the pop culture world the UFC held fast on their stance against women fighting in the UFC. The opposition to women fighting in the promotion was not about an opposition to women participating but instead to the overall skill level of the fighters.
