Georges St. Pierre had become one of those fighters in the UFC, the fighter that cleans out a division and has few challengers. There are only a few of these fighters in the UFC as Anderson Silva is a perfect example after he has cleared out the middleweight division.

The UFC returned to Toronto for the second time in a year and for the UFC it was another great success. With an attendance of 18,303 and a gate of $3.9 million plus another wild crowd who enjoyed some great fights. The best of them was the main event when Jon Jones would attempt to defend his Light Heavyweight belt against a former champion in Lyoto Machida.

UFC Live 6 made history for the UFC as it featured the first title fight on a free fight card ever as the Bantamweight title was up for grabs. The Bantamweight title is a fairly new title for the UFC that came about from the merger of the WEC into the UFC. The merger brought in a number of smaller fighters forcing the UFC to create two new weight classes and will bring a third new weight class in the near future. These new weight classes were the 145 Featherweights and the 135 Bantamweights and both saw new champions.

There has been an interesting trend in the past events in the UFC as the art of the submission has seemed to fade away. Even in Brazil where Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is king there were no submissions in the entire night. The casual fan has been happy to see this as the Knockouts have gone up and the standup fights are increasing. This is not MMA however as MMA is about the total of every style of fighting including the wrestling aspect and this wrestling aspect can be just as exciting as the standup game. The ground game has disappeared as of late but in the Battle on the Bayou it was made clear early in the undercard that the ground game is back.
