2017-18 NHL Preview: Central Division

The central Division is always a big battle as all seen teams can have a tough time but that makes this division so exciting as there are a lot of good teams all fighting for playoff spots making this one of the biggest battles of the division.

2014-15 NHL Preview: Central Division

The Central division saw a facelift in 2013-14 and with the adjustment of teams it was expected that one would rule them all. The Chicago Blackhawks had been the rulers of the old Central division for years and have been Stanley Cup favourites for the same amount of time. They went into last year as favourites again to win a division with a lot of questions. They seemed like the only sure shot in the division that was full of young teams and unsure talent. Then the season started and a team that many thought as a rebuilding team began to take control of the division.

The realignment has been a big story in the preseason as new divisions mean new opponents and new rivalries. This change in alignment for the NHL would all come down to one thing as one team’s move would require a massive change. The Atlanta Thrashers were struggling in 2011 and instead of fighting two battles, Phoenix would go under NHL ownership, the NHL decided that they would give up.

2013-14 NHL Preview: Central Division (Part 1)

The new Central Division is not the same as it once was with the top two teams taken away from the group. The Central Division had been built off of the rivalry between Detroit and Chicago but that is no longer there. The Chicago Blackhawks remain in the Central Division while the Detroit Red Wings move to the Eastern Conference.

2013 NHL Preview: The Northwest Division

If the Central Division is the strongest in the West than the Northwest Division is the division who paid for the Central’s success. With four teams making the playoffs from the Central in 2011-12 the Northwest and Pacific were left to battle for the second half of the spots. It is fair to say that the Northwest lost this fight as only one team would make the playoffs from the division.

2013 NHL Preview: The Central Division

The Central division has quickly become a powerhouse in the NHL with four of the five teams making the playoffs last year. The division has become one of the most dominant in the Western Conference and this year they are looking to continue that trend. The Detroit Red Wings have regularly led the way in this division as the most consistent team.
