The UFC is the largest fighting promotion in the world but they have been a promotion that lacks some major talent in certain places.

The UFC travelled to Japan once again as they brought the show to where MMA got its start. They would feature a fighter that had spent his fair share of time in Japan while fighting through the early days of the sport. In those days there were really no other places to fight other than Japan. The country brought MMA to a new level, one that made the fighters superstars and paid them well. In the USA at the time MMA was still a basement bawl type of sport that got little recognition in the public.

The UFC will continue to showcase one of the most exciting divisions in the sport as two more heavyweights face-off in the octagon. Las weekend Andrei Arlovski announced his return to the division in beating Antonio Silva. For the win Arlovski moved up the rankings to #7 as he is ready to come for the title. He will have plenty to go through to get there though including the two heavyweights that will headline UFC Fight Night 52. Roy Nelson, ranked #8, and Mark Hunt, ranked #6, have been working their way up the rankings for a while now.

The UFC is loaded with fighters that have seen success only to watch it fall away with a single fight. That is just the fight game as it is rarely about what a fighter has done in the past and rather about their last fight. Fighters can spend long careers building up impressive winning streaks only to lose the fight that would give them a championship fight. Some fighters take a long time to get that championship fight and many times their entire careers are spent trying to build up to a title fight only to come up just short of earning the fight.

The UFC continues to move around the world at a rapid pace this year in their goal to touch as many places as they can throughout 2014. This time they will return to Abu Dhabi for their third fight on UFC Fight Pass and their second fight in the city. In 2010 Abu Dhabi was the emerging super city that was surpassing Las Vegas on the world map as the place to go to do anything you could dream of and now it has been that place for years. So the UFC is a natural fit in Sin City 2.0 as they once again travel to the desert for another fight.

One of the best battles in the history of the Heavyweight Division in the UFC would go into its trilogy at Houston. The UFC is made up of great trilogies as it is one of the biggest parts of the fighting world. Trilogies are the be all and end all of rivalries in fighting as that third fight, more often than not, determines who the better fighter is. It is generally between two fighters that are at the top of their game or are fan favorites who people want to see fight.

Rivalries are the lifeblood of sports and in the UFC the rivalries can take on a whole new meaning. In team sports the rivalries form between two teams and players come and go that pick up this rivalry despite not being around for the catalyst that created the rivalry. In the UFC rivalries are different as they are much more personal. Rivalries in the UFC are about two fighters who have given everything they have in the octagon against each other.

UFC 161 would run into a familiar problem in the UFC as injuries would change the look of the card completely. The card would look completely change the card and would take away some of the biggest names on the card away. In the end it ended up hurting the card with fights that were good but not as good as it could have been.

The UFC will make yet another stop on their tour of the world and only a few weeks after major decisions changed the world of MMA. This past month Connecticut would be the latest state to pass a law allowing Mixed Martial Arts. Then the Canadian Government would make a decision to change the Criminal Code and allow Mixed Martial Arts throughout the country.
