The UFC saw another rivalry be put to rest after UFC Fight Night 55 when Michael Bisping and Luke Rockhold took their war of words into the octagon. It had been two years since Bisping had mentioned that he had beat the former Strikeforce champion while they were training. During an interview Bisping revealed that he and Rockhold had trained together on the mat and that he had forced the then champion to tap. That was stepping over the line for Rockhold as there is an unwritten rule in MMA that you never talk about what happens in a gym.

UFC Fight Night 55 will feature a fan favourite in Michael Bisping who has become a fan favourite for the fights he puts on. The biggest reason for his following is the pre-fight antics that he has become known for. Rarely is there a fight involving Bisping that doesn’t involve some type of feud. He is one of the most polarizing figures in the sport and that alone makes him one of the most popular fighters. There is no middle ground with Michael Bisping as fans either hate him or love him but one thing is for sure, he draws plenty of viewers and sells a lot of tickets.

The UFC fighter rankings have only been around for a few years but already they have taken over the conversation in the UFC. They represent a solid expectation of where a fighter stands in his or her division. It is a ranking to see who the top 15 fighters in each division are and when fighters look at their next opponent they can see where that fighter ranks and if they can move up with a win. When an unranked fighter gets someone in the top 10 it is a major opportunity for them to move up and achieve the ultimate goal of every fight, a title.

The UFC returns after an unexpected hiatus when UFC 172 was cancelled due to injuries to the main card. The off time was not expected but it did provide a little time in between fights after a rabid pace set by the promotion. For the last few months the UFC has been holding four events throughout one month and for some it has become a bit too much and has cause fatigue along with the depletion of the talent pool while fighters continue to get injured.

The UFC returns after a busy weekend where they held two fights in one day as they travel to a city that has been waiting for an event for a long time. Albuquerque, New Mexico will host it’s first UFC game ever which is a strange for a city that has become one of the hotbeds of the sport in the USA. There is one simple reason for that type of title as one of the biggest and best MMA gyms in the USA is located in Albuquerque. Jackson’s MMA has become one of the premier training facilities for the sport as they have trained some of the best fighters in the world.

Two fighters would enter the octagon in Manchester, England for UFC Fight Night 30 looking to make an impact in the middleweight division. There was a lot more to this fight than just two fighters looking to move up the rankings. The fight was originally scheduled to be Mark Munoz against the hometown hero in Michael Bisping but Bisping would be forced to drop out of the fight with an eye injury.

The UFC will travel back across the pond to London for another Fight Night with a bit of a change. With the UFC going to Manchester the fans were excited to see their hometown hero in Michael Bisping. The Count was set to take on Mark Munoz in a homecoming that has been long in the making. It was not to be though as Bisping would be forced to drop out of the fight after a training session left him with a detached retina.

There was never a more appropriate walk out song than Ilir Latifi’s at UFC on Fuel TV 9 when “Eye of the Tiger” came blaring over the speakers at the Ericsson Globe arena. The song from Rocky would perfectly express the situation that Latifi found himself in as he had quickly been crowned the Swedish Rocky. Only a few days ago Latifi was not on the radar of many UFC fans as he continued to train and fight for a number of smaller promotions.

The UFC will make their return to Sweden and will once again feature one of the biggest European stars in the UFC. Europeans have had a history in the UFC but they have yet to reach the pinnacle of success. There has yet to be a European champion in the UFC despite the big names that have set foot in the octagon.

The UFC is mainly made up of American and Brazilian fighters as the sport has become a major part of the American, North and South, culture. The same cannot be said for many other places as areas outside of the Americas have not seen the same growth. The overseas fight scene is not small though as there are plenty of great fighters from countries in Europe and beyond. Many have not been able to crack the UFC and that is simply because it is hard to catch the attention of the UFC without going through the North or South American fighting series.
