The women will take the centre stage in a big way at UFC 184 as the Women’s Bantamweight division takes focus in the main and co-main events. It is a long way from where they were only a few short years ago when Dana White claimed that women would never fight in the UFC. Now they are the top two billed fights on a pay-per-view event and although it came thanks to injuries the night will still be a feature of the best of the women’s bantamweight division.

That is the case for Chris Weidman as he would beat Anderson Silva not once but twice in 2013. MMA began as a competition between the martial arts disciplines from around the world to find out what the best discipline is. The sport has evolved from there to become its own version of martial arts but it still attracts the best from the multiple disciplines around the world.

Thrilling End to a Great Year (UFC 168 Review)

The year in the UFC was set to end with a great card at UFC 168 as two titles were on the line in what promised to be a card to end the year right. More than that though these two title fights would be two of the most anticipated rematches of the year. The UFC will be ending their year with a massive card and with it the reminders of an era gone by in 2013. The year began with what many would consider the most dominant group of champions ever assembled. A number of weight divisions would see their champions solidify their spot in 2012 and there did not seem to be much change coming.

As women like Gina Carano began to enter into the pop culture world the UFC held fast on their stance against women fighting in the UFC. The opposition to women fighting in the promotion was not about an opposition to women participating but instead to the overall skill level of the fighters.
