Finishes Reign in Connecticut (UFC Fight Night 50 Review)

The MMA world is not an extremely large one as everyone seems to know everyone else and they all run the in the same circles. There are only a small number of promotions that see the top fighters and so two fighters from the same division are likely to run into each other at some point if they fight long enough. That was the case for Gegard Mousasi and Ronaldo Souza who met much earlier in their careers during the Dream 6: Middleweight Grand Prix in 2008.

The UFC is full of great fighters and for many of them it is hard to find their way through the talent. It is an extremely tough thing to do in the promotion with the most talented fighters in the world. There are rarely any weak spots as every division is full of black belts, former champions, and even some Olympic medalists. Only a select few of these fighters will get their time to shine and even fewer will take full advantage of that chance.

Debuts go Brazil’s Way (UFC on FX 8 Review)

Brazil has been the Mecca of MMA ever since Royce Gracie first stepped in to the octagon and immediately change the sport forever. Gracie would bring Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to the UFC and would shock the world when he beat fighter double his size. Before that the UFC was all about the power and the knockouts with some wrestling mixed in to the fights.

The UFC continues to introduce some of the best fighters from Strikeforce into the fold of some of the best divisions in the UFC. At UFC on FX 8 it will be one of the best middleweights in the world who will make his debut as Luke Rockhold tries to make his impact in the toughest division in the UFC. The Middleweight division is not tough because of the amount of talent, although there is plenty of that, but mainly because of the champion who sits at the top.
