The Sochi Olympics are fast approaching and the tryouts are ramping up for every player in the NHL. The Olympics will begin in February 2014 and for the international hockey organizations the beginning of the 2013-14 season was a chance to see potential players in games. The Olympics are one of the biggest competitions in the international hockey calendar as it is the one time when the best from every country can face off.

2013-14 NHL Preview: Metropolitan Division (Part 2)

The Newest name division might not have a name that rolls off of the tongue but it is pretty accurate. The Metropolitan Division is just that as it features some of the biggest markets in the NHL. It may not have the Maple Leafs or the Canadiens but the size of the cities that love hockey in this division are much bigger. It will feature two states that have some of the biggest followings in the game while also including some of the largest Eastern cities.

NHL Week in Review (Oct. 16-22)

Sports have always been an avenue for personal achievements no matter what league someone plays in. When a number of athletes are put together the best of them always wants to show that they are the best that ever played in the league. The fans also love to say that their favorite player was the best at what he did. This is the basis of statistics in pro sports as athletes are continually in pursuit of stats while still winning and fans love to see a statistical race.
