2013 Yates Cup Preview

The Yates Cup is one of the oldest trophies in North American Sports and the fight to earn the right to lift the 106 year old trophy is always a good one. For the last two year the McMaster Marauders have been given the opportunity to call themselves the OUA champions but all that would change this year. After the loss of former Hec Crighton winner Kyle Quinlan the Marauders were not the same team that had dominated a conference for two years.

2013 OUA Playoff Preview

The CIS season began with a big question as the Big Four in the conferences were the main story that everyone was watching. The Calgary Dinos, Laval Rouge et Or, Acadia Axemen, and the McMaster Marauders had all won their conferences in the last two years and questions of three-peats were beginning to surface. Two of the teams had already been through the three-peat and had won plenty of titles ahead of last year. Two teams in the big four were looking to win the title for the third straight year and begin a time of dominance like in the other two conferences.

CIS Football Report (Week 9)

The CIS season is very close to ending with only one week left for most conferences to finish their season while the OUA would end this weekend. The OUA began this season like any other as they would begin a week before every other conference. This gave them an extra week as they would hold a Quarterfinals unlike the rest of the conferences. So they would end their season earlier than everyone else with the quarterfinals set to start next week.

CIS Football Report (Week 8)

The CIS season is about to wrap up with teams winding down their regular season and preparing for the playoffs. As the last few weeks count down in the season the playoff races are heating up with some key games this week. There would only be two conferences in action this week as the RSEQ and the CanWest got a week off with the OUA and the AUS continued their fight for the playoffs. Both conferences were in action and both are in the best races for the playoffs out of the four other conferences.

CIS Football Report (Week 7)

The CIS season is quickly coming to a close for many teams with only a few games left for almost every team. As the league begins to close out the playoff race heats up for teams that are looking to play football late into November. The OUA is already coming through their season as they get into the playoffs with many teams only having two games left in their season.

CIS Football Report (Week 4)

The CIS season continues on and the teams are beginning to figure out where they stand among their conferences. The only problem for many of the teams this year is that there is not a lot that has been figured out yet. The CIS season has seen very few teams break away as the season looks to be one of the more even years in the league.

Is McMaster Done? (OUA Preview)

The OUA will see plenty of changes in 2013 as a new team enters the fold and the dominant team has been gutted. The Carlton Ravens will be the new team on the block as they return to the football field for the first time in 15 years. They will have a high hill to climb as they enter the biggest conference in the CIS and will have to compete with some very well established programs.

CIS Football Report (Semi-Finals)

CIS Football was officially in playoff mode this week as every conference held the semi-finals of their conference. It is the best time of year as the best teams face off with everything on the line. If they lose they go home with nothing but a playoff spot to boast about but if they win they live to fight another day in the CIS season. The regular season doesn’t matter in the playoffs besides the deciding what field you play on.

CIS Football Report (Week 9)

The CIS regular season is now finished as the CanWest, RSEQ, and AUS conferences played their last games of the season. Now the focus moves to the best part of any CIS football season, the playoffs. Most conferences had been determined already with most playoff spots taken and only a few positions to figure out. Still though the CIS has a way of surprising people and it did just that in the final week of the regular season.

CIS Football Report (Week 8)

The CIS season is getting down to the final week as conferences continue to figure everything out. Week 8 in the CIs saw the end to many playoff races as two conferences left no room and another conference finished its season. The fourth conference is the AUS though and they are still going strong. The Acadia Axemen have put themselves in the first place spot and will earn a bye through the first round.
