2017 World Baseball Classic Report (Day 1)

The 2017 World Baseball Classic began with a bang as the first game brought a surprise as an expected tournament power was rocked by a big underdog to open up a tournament that could have just seen one of many upsets.

The North American Rivalry (Pool A Preview)

The World Juniors have long been Canada’s tournament as they have been the most dominant team in the tournament. For a long time the tournament would come down to the second place battle as nobody could beat the Canadians. A lot of that has changed in the past few years though as the Canadians have lost their grip on the tournament. A large part of this has been the rise of their neighbours to the south in the USA.

WBC Preview: Pool A

The World Baseball Classic is a unique tournament in that it pits teams from around the world against each other. It is even more unique in the fact that there are a number of teams that rarely are seen in the international stage. This is true of the Brazilian team in Pool A of this year’s tournament as they will enter a pool that could be one of the tougher pools in the tournament.

Can the Rest Continue to Impress (Pool A Preview)

The World Juniors has always been seen as a tournament for the Canadians and only really watched by the Canadians. That has started to change though as teams have begun to challenge Canada with development in other countries catching up to Canada. Even then Canada would still dominate with only a handful of teams challenging them and giving them a scare.

World Junior Championship (Day 6)

The World Junior Tournament has finished the round robin phase of the tournament with a wild finish. This was true for Day 5 of the tournament as a number of teams were playing with a playoff spot on the line.

World Junior Championship (Day 4)

The World Juniors continued with another day of relative quiet with only two games on tap. These games were also not the best as the top teams in the tournament took on the worst teams in the tournament. There were some surprises though as some teams were able to play much better than expected but were still not able to provide upsets.

World Junior Championship (Day 2)

The World Junior Tournament entered the second day after a loaded Boxing Day Schedule. The biggest news may have been coming out of the Canadian Camp who lost their physical leader in Devonte Smith-Pelly who broke his foot in the opening game. Smith-Pelly will be out for the rest of the tournament but he will stick with Team Canada as a leader for the team.
