The Atlanta Thrashers were struggling in 2011 and instead of fighting two battles, Phoenix would go under NHL ownership, the NHL decided that they would give up.

NHL Week in Review (Oct. 23-29)

This week in the NHL saw a flashback to the 1980s when the Philadelphia Flyers and the Winnipeg Jets faced off. The two teams came together on opposite ends of the spectrum in the NHL. The Winnipeg Jets are a major story in the NHL, especially in Canada, as the new team on the block and the 8th Canadian team in the league.
