The NL Central was a perfect expression of this in 2013 when they had one of the best division battles in the MLB. Out of the five teams in the division there were three that continued to fight for the division until the final days of the season. In the past this was always limited to the top two teams as the rest of the teams were put to the bottom to fight it out for third place. It was like that for years until the Pittsburgh Pirates threw their names into the title race.

MLB Week in Review (September 7-13)

The MLB postseason race is in full swing with many teams looking towards the playoffs and many more looking to next year. These teams are not the fun teams to watch though as the fun part of the race are the teams that are fighting for their spot. The teams that need to win or will find themselves out of the postseason are the teams that everyone is watching with only a few weeks left to earn their spot. There are only a handful of battles left in the MLB as the season winds down and the games get fewer and fewer with teams falling under the Out of the Running status.

2013 MLB Preview: NL Central

The National League Central is a team down this year as the Houston Astros made a move to the American League. It won’t mean much as the Astros made little impact on the division and really on the MLB. It does leave the division with five teams and better chance for every team to make the playoffs.

The NL Central is a division with some issues this year as it is one of the most unstable divisions in baseball. Almost every team looks shaky in the central division that could see just the best of the worst win and earn a berth in the postseason. Along with the uneasiness of the team’s performance there is also controversy in the division.
