The American League Central is a division that has been ruled by one team for years and that team has been the Detroit Tigers. The Tigers have been one of the most dominant teams in the MLB and have regularly been considered favourites to win the World Series. Thanks in large part to a great pitching staff the Tigers have ruled over the central for years. It is not all about the Tigers though as their time at the top has also been a lot about the lack of competition around them in their own division.

Almost two months into the season and teams are beginning to straighten out where they stand in the league. The fast starters are beginning to show their true colours as some are slowing down while others continue on. The slow starters are beginning to do the same as some are starting to get better and others are just proving that they will remain at the bottom of the league for the rest of the season.

The American League Central is a division on the decline in recent years but in 2013 a number of teams will try to bring the division back. The last few years this division has followed a very specific pattern as there is always one dominant team. That team used to be the Minnesota Twins who would win the division almost every year.
