The Atlantic Division is one of the biggest division in the league and that is largely due to the fact that there are more eyes on these team than any other in the NHL putting plenty of pressure to compete on every team in the division.

The Pacific Division will certainly be a division with a lot of eyes on it as the California teams still fight it out and try to get back to the top while the Alberta teams look for a resurgence and the newest team tries to make an impression.

The old Pacific Division is much like the new Pacific division as the top teams from the West Coast remain the top teams in the Pacific. The California trio continue their dominance of the Pacific in a massive surge of California hockey. When the NHL decided to expand to the West Coast it was thought to be a terrible idea. The land of sunshine and beaches had no idea what hockey was and putting a pro team there was sure to fail.

The Atlantic Division is a mix of some of the best teams and some of the worst teams in the NHL as the division is one of the hardest to figure out. On one end of the spectrum lies the Boston Bruins, Tampa Bay Lightning, and Montreal Canadiens. These three teams have proven to be some of the most talented teams in the league over the last few years. The Bruins are the team that leads the pack with one of the best combinations of skill and toughness that make them a true contender in the Stanley Cup playoffs. Meanwhile the Lightning and Canadiens have been built with skill in mind as both are loaded with offensive talent although the toughness has suffered on both of the teams.

The NHL season is right around the corner as teams once again prepare for the long haul towards the Stanley Cup. It is one of the toughest roads to a championship as the physical nature of the game claims plenty of casualties. It is not only the team that has the most skill but the team that has the most tenacity that will survive the season and find their way to the Stanley Cup. As important as the skill is in the NHL, more often than not the team with the guys that can grind out wins are the ones that win championships.
