Last year the 18-year old Nathan MacKinnon would light up the NHL and earn the Calder Trophy, becoming the youngest player to do so. The tragedy in Boston was felt all over the sports world and everything stood still on the day of the attacks and of the manhunt. In fact the Boston Bruins days were completely ended as two games were cancelled for the Bruins. It would be a necessary precaution for the fans of the event as safety was at the top of mind in making those decisions.

The NHL Draft signifies the beginning of the NHL offseason as teams begin to rebuild and look to the future of the game. The new generation is coming up as players from the minor leagues look to get in to the NHL and make an impact. Of course the draft is not the only way to do this as free agency is right around the corner for teams to add players.

NHL Season in Review

The Stanley Cup has been handed out and the Los Angeles Kings are planning their days with the Cup it is time to look back at the season that was. The 2011-12 season was an interesting on as there were plenty of stories to follow throughout the year. Of course none was bigger than the concussion issue this year.

After the first three games in the finals the Stanley Cup ceremony seemed to be ready to go for the Kings. That was until the Devils finally got some breaks in the series and began getting the results they seemingly deserved. Through the first two games the Devils seemed to outplay the Kings at moments but could not get the breaks.

NHL Week in Review (March 4-10)

The NHL season is drawing to a close and teams continue to battle for the elusive playoff spot and their chance to hoist the Stanley Cup. With a number of teams looking to get into the top eight there are the obvious teams that seem destine to make the playoffs and make an impact. The Vancouver Canucks, New York Rangers, Detroit Red Wings, St. Louis Blues, and Pittsburgh Penguins all look to be in that category this year.
