Alabama is the standard in college football but they have found a true rival int he biggest games every year and that rivalry is beginning to define the era of the College Football Playoff.
History Made in More Ways than One
It was time to finally put an end to the 2014 NCAA Football Seasons as the National Championship would determine the best team in College Football for another year. Heading into Texas for the big game there were no shortage of storylines as the Ohio State Buckeyes and Oregon Ducks faced off. For one it was the first time that a champion would be determined after a playoff. Both the Ducks and the Buckeyes had played their way into the National Championship during the Semi-Finals on New Year’s Day.
2015 National Championship Preview
It has been the theme of the 2014 NCAA Football season, welcoming in the new and saying goodbye to the old. That has all surrounded the introduction of the College Football Playoff as the NCAA took its first step towards a more equal playing field. For a long time the champion was determined simply by rankings with the top team at the end of the year being announced as the National Champion. Then the NCAA changed to the BCS where the top two teams, based on rankings created by a computer equation, played one final game.
The BCS goes out with a Bang (BCS National Championship Review)
The end of the BCS would go out with a great game that truly showed what the BCS ended up being all about. With a playoff coming in next year selected by a committee the BCS will no longer matter but it would go out with a somewhat familiar matchup. It was familiar because in a total of 9 games since the BCS was created in 1998 the SEC has seen their champion in the final game.
2014 National Championship Preview
The BCS National Championship is reaching an end as this year will be the last year of the BCS as we know it. The rankings that were established in 1997 will be thrown out for what many believe to be a more fair system. The BCS has always come under fire for the way that they pick the top teams in the nation to face off in the National Championship.
NCAA Football Report (Week 12)
The NCAA never ceases to surprise as once again the week in football saw a massive shift in the BCS. Last week it was the loss of Alabama forcing the BCS rankings to take the Tide out of the top spot. With the loss the Crimson Tide would drop to fourth place behind the three remaining undefeated teams in the BCA rankings.
