2017 was a year of the upset and the surprise in sports and the first major American championship followed the same path as a David versus Goliath match-up was in store and the result was surprising even if Goliath took the win.

It was the rematch that the Clemson Tigers were hoping for after falling to the Alabama Crimson Tide a year ago and for a second year in a row both teams put on a show with the Tigers getting that chance to take a national championship and avenge their loss.

It was time to finally put an end to the 2014 NCAA Football Seasons as the National Championship would determine the best team in College Football for another year. Heading into Texas for the big game there were no shortage of storylines as the Ohio State Buckeyes and Oregon Ducks faced off. For one it was the first time that a champion would be determined after a playoff. Both the Ducks and the Buckeyes had played their way into the National Championship during the Semi-Finals on New Year’s Day.

It has been the theme of the 2014 NCAA Football season, welcoming in the new and saying goodbye to the old. That has all surrounded the introduction of the College Football Playoff as the NCAA took its first step towards a more equal playing field. For a long time the champion was determined simply by rankings with the top team at the end of the year being announced as the National Champion. Then the NCAA changed to the BCS where the top two teams, based on rankings created by a computer equation, played one final game.
