NHL Week in Review (December 7-13)

When tragedy strikes and someone passes away the effect is felt by anyone who was helped by that person. Generally that means family and friends who have lived or worked alongside that person who are effected by the death. When that death reaches into the public space the list of people effected grows beyond the immediate friends and family. When that death is a hockey player in one of the most loyal and dedicated fan bases in the world that list grows to an entire province.

2014-15 NHL Preview: Early Stanley Cup Outlook

The Stanley Cup Playoffs are widely considered some of the toughest in the sports world as it is a grind. The playoffs are designed to break teams and players down to the point where they can no longer go on. It is the second season after one that is grinding in itself. The regular season is a long set of games where players have to stay mentally tough as well as physically tough. The sport values physicality as the players have to fly down the ice as fast as they can while risking the chance that another player will take them out with a big hit.

2014-15 NHL Preview: Atlantic Division

The Atlantic Division is a mix of some of the best teams and some of the worst teams in the NHL as the division is one of the hardest to figure out. On one end of the spectrum lies the Boston Bruins, Tampa Bay Lightning, and Montreal Canadiens. These three teams have proven to be some of the most talented teams in the league over the last few years. The Bruins are the team that leads the pack with one of the best combinations of skill and toughness that make them a true contender in the Stanley Cup playoffs. Meanwhile the Lightning and Canadiens have been built with skill in mind as both are loaded with offensive talent although the toughness has suffered on both of the teams.

NHL Week in Review (May 25-31)

The New York Rangers would stamp their ticket to the biggest series of the year when they beat the Montreal Canadiens 1-0 in Game 6. That would finish off a series that, when it was made, had the Rangers losing and not by a slim margin. Most believed that the Montreal Canadiens were just a better team and a team that seemed to get past their toughest challenges on the way to the Stanley Cup Finals. Then the Rangers would win both of the first game in Montreal and the tone was set for the rest of the series. The Rangers would put the Canadiens on the defence early having them go down 2-0 before they could even get out of their own building.

NHL Week in Review (May 18-24)

The NHL Playoffs are creeping ever closer to the Stanley Cup as four teams remain and are fighting every step of the way to get there. The series both looked like they were set up for interesting matchups. In the West it was the powerhouse Chicago Blackhawks against the wild card Los Angeles Kings. The Kings were never supposed to compete with the Blackhawks looking like the team to beat but the Kings would not give up. The series would be closer than most as the Kings would beat the Blackhawks at home becoming the first team to beat Chicago at home in the playoffs.
