A Night of Impressions in Tulsa (UFC Fight Night 49 Review)

The main event in a UFC fight is the most important spot throughout an entire fight as it is the reason people are at the fight. The main event is the fight that sells an entire card and should feature the best fighters with the most to fight for on the card. The main event is also a chance for fighters to show what they have with all eyes on them. It is the point where everyone is watching and everyone is in the arena including the most important executives in the UFC. So when a fighter gets a chance at the main event it is their chance to show everyone how good they can be.

UFC Fight Night 49 Preview

The UFC lightweight division has been one of the toughest divisions in the UFC for years and everyone knows it. People have been saying it for the last few years and it remains at the same level year after year with only more talent entering the division. Standing at the top of the division right now is the one time Strikeforce champion Anthony Pettis. As Pettis recovers from injury the rest of the division continues to fight for position behind him and leading that charge is former champion Benson Henderson.

Fox Sports 1 Opens with a Bang (UFC Fight Night 26 Review)

The UFC would open their new home with UFC Fight Night 26 as the UFC would put together a great card to debut Fox Sports 1. It was another move for the UFC as they would essentially gain their own channel on a major network. Although the UFC is not the only part to the new sports network there is a reason why Fox decided to open up with a day of UFC leading up to UFC Fight Night 26. The UFC is still on the fringe of sports with many people still wary of the sport that pays people to beat each other up.

The UFC starts yet another era in their history as they will help to launch a brand new sport network from one of the biggest networks in North America. When the UFC moved away from Spike TV they were doing so to join a much larger network and reach a much larger audience. They would join Fox and would take over Fox, FX, and Fuel TV with multiple free events that would help grow the sport.

Flyweight Picture Finally Clears Up (UFC on FX 3 Review)

The Flyweight division is still an extremely young division in the UFC with only two fights between flyweights so far. These two fights were the Flyweight Tournament to determine the first ever flyweight champion of the UFC. The fights though only produced one potential champion as Joseph Benavidez won his match to earn a spot in the finals.

No Love Lost in Philly

The UFC made their way back to Philadelphia for UFC 133 but did not have any title fights, although that didn’t deter the fighters from putting on a show. The main event had been changed multiple times as Rashad Evans got a new opponent almost every month. It finally stopped with Tito Ortiz who accepted the fight 8 days after his last fight. The change turned out to be a great matchup as it was the rematch that both fighters had wanted after their first fight. At UFC 73 Ortiz and Evans had faced off and fought to a draw as Ortiz looked like he was going to win until he had a point taken away for grabbing the fence. The draw did not sit well with either fighter and UFC 133 was their chance to avenge the draw and prove who the better fighter is. With Evans out of the ring for 14 months and Ortiz just recently getting his first win in 3 years both fighters were ready to come out and prove that they belong at the top of the light heavyweight division.

UFC 133 Preview

In another change Rashad Evans, who dropped out of an earlier fight due to injury, will now face Tito Ortiz instead of Phil Davis. For both fighters this was a good change as they both really want this fight. Rashad Evans has been slowly climbing the light heavyweight ladder after losing the belt and is now back among the top fighters in the division. Tito Ortiz is beginning to finally get back into the debate after a bad start.
