These fighters can win only a few fights and if they are impressive wins can get a title shot in almost no time. For some it is not fair as they need to prove themselves but many times they are the best fighters in the division. That causes them to get plenty of talk surrounding them which is how they earn their shots to begin with.

Those fights are necessary for the continuation of the UFC in finding new contenders by putting them under pressure in televised events. Every now and then fighters can fall into an area that no fighter likes to fall into as they become that good but forgotten fighter. These fighters have issues in getting much recognition despite the amount of wins they put together and most of the time it is because they do not have very amazing fights. It can also happen when a division is in the midst of a headline grabbing title run. That is the case in the welterweight division where the announcement of the semi-retirement of Georges St. Pierre.

The UFC would open their new home with UFC Fight Night 26 as the UFC would put together a great card to debut Fox Sports 1. It was another move for the UFC as they would essentially gain their own channel on a major network. Although the UFC is not the only part to the new sports network there is a reason why Fox decided to open up with a day of UFC leading up to UFC Fight Night 26. The UFC is still on the fringe of sports with many people still wary of the sport that pays people to beat each other up.

The UFC starts yet another era in their history as they will help to launch a brand new sport network from one of the biggest networks in North America. When the UFC moved away from Spike TV they were doing so to join a much larger network and reach a much larger audience. They would join Fox and would take over Fox, FX, and Fuel TV with multiple free events that would help grow the sport.
