The NCAA season is almost over with only one game left on the schedule to determine the best team in College Football. The NCAA season has been a wild one this year and has given rise to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Alabama Crimson Tide as the two top teams in the league. The season did not start out with both of these teams at the top of the rankings in fact neither began the season as the #1 team.

The NCAA has come under some major fire over the years for the way they determine champions. Since 1997 the NCAA Division I-FBS has used the BCS system to determine the top two teams in the league who would then face off in the National Championship. The debate has raged on since the BCS was established as to how accurate the rankings are.

This week of games was a bit of good and a bit of bad and again saw a lot of boring games until the night. With Notre Dame and Stanford both going into the spotlight expected to lose in the night games the roles were reversed. The Irish beat their rivals the Michigan State Spartans who were ranked 10 spots ahead of them and the Cardinal beat the second best team in the nation in the USC Trojans.

The NCAA season is still young and so the matchups are still a bit of a joke as teams continue to face weak teams. The top teams continue along their path of warm-up games before they are forced to play their tougher competition. For these teams it is a type of exhibition for the season as they do not have exhibitions to warm the teams up to game speed. There are always risks with this though as any game at any time can go completely sideways and the best teams can lose.

The NCAA Season is all but officially over as the conference championships have finished and the rankings are set. With only the Army-Navy game left on the schedule teams begin to get ready for their bowl games as all bowls have now been determined. Like almost everything this season in the NCAA it was not easy to decide the final rankings and determine the BCS Bowl Games.
