The MLB postseason race is heating up with only one month left for teams to solidify their spot in the postseason. As the season closes every game gets that much more important for the teams in the hunt. That puts everything under an even bigger microscope than it has ever been before. This happens every year as mistakes become much bigger and one misstep can put a player into the hot seat really fast. More than the players though, the umpires are put in a situation where one missed call can change everything.

The MLB season is reaching the halfway point of the season as the all-star break shuts down the league for a brief stint. As the halfway point of the season approaches the league is seeing a bad trend. With the All-Star game right around the corner teams are seeing some of their top players falling onto the DL at an alarming rate. The injury bug is running rampant in the league but it is not a new trend. There has been plenty of talk about the increase in the amount of Tommy John Surgeries in the MLB as arm injuries in pitchers seem to be increasing steadily over the last few years.

In sports many times it is thought that newer is better when it comes to any aspect of the game from players to uniforms to systems. That rings true for the stadiums in sports as well with leagues seeing newer and better stadiums going up almost every year. The stadiums for all of the leagues are beginning to become their own small theme parks. There are more seats than ever while the amenities inside can range from great and unique food to massive stores with any type of merchandise.

The American League East has long been considered the best division in baseball as they have regularly seen teams at the top of the league. The division contains some of the most legendary teams in the MLB and every year they seem to be on top of the league. That can make it extremely difficult for teams to make a run at the top of the division. With the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox constantly winning the division the other teams find it hard to break through and win.

The summer is approaching, although in some places it is taking its sweet time, and with the warmer weather comes the new baseball season. The 2013 baseball season was full of great stories and a championship run for the ages. The Boston Red Sox would be seen as a team in transition and a team that was not going to get back to the World Series a year after a terrible season.
