Super Fight in the Philippines (UFC Fight Night 66 Review)

It was another first for the UFC as they travelled to the Philippines for the first time in the promotions history.

Middleweights moving in Berlin (UFC Fight Night 41 Review)

The UFC would do something that it has rarely done as they would create the ultimate day of fights for fight fans. It would also show a scary trend in the UFC as they continue to walk a fine line between giving fans what they want and putting too much out there. The UFC has always had there once a month fight cards on pay-per-view and that has never changed aside from the odd month where they feature two pay-per-view events. Then the UFC would sign a deal with Spike to broadcast live fights alongside their reality show, The Ultimate Fighter.

UFC Fight Night 41 Preview

The middleweight division continues to sort itself out with Chris Weidman now sitting on top of the division. As fighters continue to sort themselves into the proper spots there will be two fighters that will face off at very different points in their careers. Mark Munoz and Gegard Mousasi are both veteran fighters and are both looking to continuing moving up the division rankings but they have had different paths to this point. For Mousasi the road has been a long one as he would start fighting in 2003 and would only join the UFC in 2013 to begin his run at a UFC title.

Another Night of Finishes (UFC Fight Night 30 Review)

Two fighters would enter the octagon in Manchester, England for UFC Fight Night 30 looking to make an impact in the middleweight division. There was a lot more to this fight than just two fighters looking to move up the rankings. The fight was originally scheduled to be Mark Munoz against the hometown hero in Michael Bisping but Bisping would be forced to drop out of the fight with an eye injury.

UFC Fight Night 30 Preview

The UFC will travel back across the pond to London for another Fight Night with a bit of a change. With the UFC going to Manchester the fans were excited to see their hometown hero in Michael Bisping. The Count was set to take on Mark Munoz in a homecoming that has been long in the making. It was not to be though as Bisping would be forced to drop out of the fight after a training session left him with a detached retina.

The Small Card That Could (UFC on Fuel TV 4 Review)

It never fails that the UFC puts on a great show whenever the championship goes to live TV to showcase some good fighters. The main events on live cards generally feature two big names in the divisions but rarely feature title holders or the biggest names in the UFC.

The middleweight division is once again stable after UFC 148 saw the reign of Anderson Silva continue. It is a reign that has lasted since 2006 and has left the middleweight division with few if any challengers. Chael Sonnen was one of the last middleweight sin the division that could pose a threat to Silva but there are still a number of middleweights looking to prove that they could be the next one.

Throwing Bombs in Birmingham

UFC 138 did not receive much media in the months leading up to the fight with UFC on Fox taking a lot of the focus. UFC on Fox is a big promotion for the UFC and it has rightly gotten a lot of media time with two heavyweights fighting and the premiere of UFC on network television. The issue with the media going to UFC on Fox is that the media was not on the fantastic card that would be featured in Birmingham, England this past Saturday.

What 2 Watch (Nov. 4-6)

The month of October is over and so the winter sports take over TV with football and hockey dominating the sports channels. The NFL is through their halfway mark and the second half will start off much like the first half with Baltimore taking on Pittsburgh in a big division rivalry. Meanwhile NCAA football will have their biggest game so far between the #1 and #2 teams in the nation that will go a long way to determining the National Championship.

UFC 138 Preview

There has been little to no focus on UFC 138 with a lot of media concentrated on the UFC on Fox fight for the Heavyweight Title. With the first UFC on FOX taking the concentration many people might not even think about this fight. That would be a big mistake as UFC 138 in England looks to be an explosive card. With a host of English fighters filling out the card and the main event featuring two fighters known for their KOs this fight card looks very good.
