Sochi 2014 Olympic Update (Day 1)

The Olympics is one the biggest sporting event in the world as the entire world of sports takes a break to watch the world compete. It is a major event and at the centre of it are athletes that are not used to having that type of outside pressure. All of the athletes have put plenty of pressure on themselves to try and be the best but are rarely in the world view. They do most of their work with few fans watching and paying attention but that presence becomes more increased the year before the Olympics.

Canada’s Time to Shine

When the Olympics would set foot in Vancouver there was plenty of pressure on each and every Canadian athlete. It was a pressure from Canadian fans to not embarrass the country at home. It may seem like a bad thought to have but as a Canadian Olympic fan it is a common one as the country is not known for their athletic prowess. Canadians have not had the most success in the Olympics as they constantly underperform when the lights get bright.

2014 Olympic Preview: Freestyle Sports

The Olympics are many times seen as a pretentious stuffy version of sports and that can usually be related to the image of the IOC. It is not always the most exciting sporting event for some people because it is not a big part of sports culture in a lot of ways. There is also the issue that the Olympics have generally kept their old school mentality about a lot of things. They seem to have an attitude about other sports that are not in the Olympics as less than the Olympic sports.
