The American League East has always been the toughest division in the MLB but that title is quickly falling away.

The MLB postseason race is heating up with just over a month to go until October baseball determines the next champion. As of right now nobody is mathematically eliminated, although plenty of teams are looking at an end to their season sooner than the rest. As the regular season begins to close out and teams start to solidify themselves as postseason contenders everyone begins to look at one of the most important aspects of entering the playoffs.

The MLB owners had a major decision to make this week when they decided who would succeed Bud Selig as the Commissioner of baseball. For more than two decades Bud Selig has ruled over the game of baseball. He has overseen the expansion of the postseason and the introduction of interleague play. His lasting legacy remains to be seen but most likely it will be one of success where the MLB went from a league with constant labour instability to relative calm and plenty of success. The league is still going through a major television boom to help them become a serious player in the major sports league sin North America.

Baseball is many times not considered the most intense of sports as it sees a slow pace with pure precision. It is less about getting pumped up for a game and more about getting into a calm zone where players can see everything in slow motion. After all baseball is a game where an inch one way or the other can make a world of difference. A pitcher is always looking for that extra inch or less to fool the batter while the batter is looking for that extra inch between a single and a home run.

The American League East has long been considered the best division in baseball as they have regularly seen teams at the top of the league. The division contains some of the most legendary teams in the MLB and every year they seem to be on top of the league. That can make it extremely difficult for teams to make a run at the top of the division. With the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox constantly winning the division the other teams find it hard to break through and win.

The Boston Red Sox are standing at the top of the MLB world once again as they would win their 8th World Series in franchise history. The Red Sox would complete a worst to first season after it seemed that they were on the decline as a franchise. The year before the Red Sox had fallen to the bottom of the East division after revelations of the actions in the locker room known as the Beer and Chickengate by some.

The MLB is revving up for the playoffs race as teams get ready to fight for their chance to play in the postseason. There are plenty of teams that will likely not make it but for the few that have a chance, these next weeks are more important than ever. Teams need to muster everything they can get to try and earn wins and climb into a playoff spot.

The American League East has always been one of the best divisions in the MLB with multiple teams regularly making the playoffs. It seemed for the longest time that the wild card team would always be the runner-up in the AL East. The winner would also be a favorite to win the World Series every year. It became the toughest division in baseball with great teams all fighting for a spot in the playoffs and a few falling through the cracks.
