Title races Finally get Moving in Vegas (UFC 181 Review)

There has been a backlog in the UFC for the last year as top talent in big divisions continue to win and go nowhere for their efforts. No matter how impressive their win or how many wins they put together they have been unable to find their way to the title. It has been one of the most frustrating periods for fans and for the UFC in general as fight after fight goes by with less and less titles on the line. For everyone watching and everyone involved in the UFC it is a challenge as they love to put on and watch championship fights. The issue has been the fact that champions have been out of commission for the majority of 2014.

The UFC has had some issues when it comes to a number of weight classes in keeping their title holders fighting. For the last year it has been rare to see many of the titles up for grabs with true title holders in fights. Whether it is injuries or simply that fact that people who win the title tend to take some time off to fix issues. It is a practice that does not make the UFC President very happy but one that is understood. Fighters take a lot of punishment and don’t have a lot of time to take off when they are in pursuit of a title.

New Champ in Big D (UFC 171 Review)

The welterweight division was a bit of a mystery heading into UFC 171 as there was not champion with the rule of Georges St. Pierre over. Georges St. Pierre was among the greatest fighters in the history of the UFC and was constantly mentioned alongside Anderson Silva as the best pound for pound fighters in the UFC. Then the end of 2013 would happen and the pound for pound list was thrown into disarray.

For the 20th anniversary they will hold one of the biggest fights of the year when Georges St. Pierre defends his belt against his toughest test yet. The fight will have plenty behind it but more than anything the fight is an attempt to prove that the era of the dominant champion is still alive.

A Grudge Ends (UFC 158 Review)

UFC 158 was a time that many fans and two fighters would finally bury the hatchet and bring an end to a long time grudge. Georges St. Pierre has been the champion for years and is widely considered one of the best fighters in the world. He is not without a few detractors though and one of the loudest was Nick Diaz who would call out the champion while St. Pierre was injured.

UFC 158 Preview

Never has a poster expressed a main event so well than the UFC 158 poster that perfectly captures what this fight is all about. UFC 158 is about Georges St. Pierre finally getting the monkey off of his back known as Nick Diaz. In 2011 St. Pierre would be scheduled to fight Nick Diaz for the Welterweight title at UFC 137. Then in a very strange series of event Diaz would decide not to show up for the press conference.
