The UFC travels to Brazil once again this weekend and once again they will not see the fight they had planned. Originally the return to Brazil was to feature a Brazilian legend and a rising British star. Then with little over a week to go before the fight Jimi Manuwa broke his foot while training and was forced to withdraw from the fight. It was a big loss for the UFC and for Manuwa who had a chance to add a big name to his record.

Another title would be up for grabs this weekend when Jose Aldo would defend his Featherweight belt against Chan Sung Jung. It would be an interesting matchup as Aldo would defend his belt against a fighter who not many expected to be here yet. Originally the fight was to be Aldo vs. former WEC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis but an injury would cancel that fight forcing the UFC to find a new challenger.

The UFC has gone to many places throughout the last few years including a place where many of the UFC fighters come from. Brazil has been a wild place to fight and with so many Brazilians stars filling out cards they seem to consistently be the loudest events.

The trend in the past few years for the UFC has been for fans and analysts to put together super fights that see the best fighters crossover weight classes to fight for titles. This week the UFC will get their first fight to do this, although not quite the super fight many had been hoping for. In the past few years many divisions have been cleaned out by dominant champions who have left nobody to challenge them.

The Flyweight division is still an extremely young division in the UFC with only two fights between flyweights so far. These two fights were the Flyweight Tournament to determine the first ever flyweight champion of the UFC. The fights though only produced one potential champion as Joseph Benavidez won his match to earn a spot in the finals.

In March 2012 the UFC on FX 2 featured the debut of a new class of fighters in the UFC as the Flyweights began their championship tournament. The tournament would be a first for the UFC as they would decide the first ever Flyweight Champion through a four fighter tournament.

The UFC made their return to Australia and did it in a big way breaking attendance and gate records for free events. The Fight Night style of event saw 14,537 people cram in to the Allphones Arena to a total of $2.2 million gate. Both of these were records for events that were shown for free on television. These fans got a treat as well with the main event being a great fight but the main draw was the start of the Flyweight tournament.

The UFC has continued to expand their fighting roster with more and more fighters and more weight classes. This was true late last year when Dana White introduced the new Flyweight class that would bring in another lighter weight class. The Flyweight division would be made up of 125 lbs fighters as the UFC continues to add more fighters to improve their talent.
