UFC 180 Preview

Another fight card has been changed by injury and as disappointing as it is for another new home of the UFC it has created another interesting fight. The UFC will go to Mexico for the first time ever as Mexico City hosts UFC 180. When the show was created there was a clear plan, as with any other new country, to feature big fighters from Mexico or with Mexican heritage. That was the idea when the UFC put Cain Velasquez on the card to defend his heavyweight title against Fabricio Werdum.

The UFC would not wait too long to go back to one of the biggest fan bases in Mixed Martial Arts. They would return to Brazil for the second time in three weeks and this time it would be the finale of The Ultimate Fighter Brazil 2. They would determine the next star to come out of a country that has produced so many of the top fighters in the UFC.

The 4 Year Domination Ends, For Now (UFC 143)

Georges St. Pierre had become one of those fighters in the UFC, the fighter that cleans out a division and has few challengers. There are only a few of these fighters in the UFC as Anderson Silva is a perfect example after he has cleared out the middleweight division.

It has been a very strange few months for the top of the welterweight division as there have been almost a number of different matchups. It all started at UFC 137 last October when Nick Diaz would make his debut in the UFC against welterweight champions Georges St. Pierre. Except that is not what happened as Diaz had his title shot pulled due to his absence at two press conferences leading up to the fight.
