MMA is no stranger to the classic matchups that sports love and the rivalries that go along with these matchups. Despite the fact that it is not a team sport and that there are men who fight for a while and rarely meet often enough for true rivalries to form there still are rivalries that spring up. The majority of these rivalries are the fighter against fighter rivalries that tend to form out of trash talk and facing each other often

In the second fight of the day the UFC would continue to show off their growth throughout the last decade. It is still considered by some the fast growing sport in the world but others would say it has reached a plateau. It is not to say that the decline is coming or that there isn’t room for more growth but for now the UFC seems to be steadily just on the outside of the biggest sports in the world. Still they continue to try to grow and tend to use the show that got them to where they are now to do just that.

The Ultimate Fighter continues to grow every year with new countries participating in the show every season. The first country outside of the USA to adopt the show would naturally be one of the biggest centres for the spot in Brazil. The success of The Ultimate Fighter Brazil would convince the UFC to move into other parts of the world including China and Canada but they would not forget the originals. The UFC would continue to host regular shows in Brazil and the third season is set to end in Sao Paulo at the TUF Brazil III Finale.

When trying to match the excitement from a legendary fight it can be a lot of pressure on the fighters. That is what Dan Henderson and Mauricio Rua were looking to do at UFC Fight Night 38 when they would square off in a rematch of a classic. At UFC 139 Henderson and Rua would put on a slugfest that is now considered one of the best fights in MMA history. After a few years both fighters would get the chance to redo the fight and bring about another classic.

The UFC has been a promotion that prides itself on creating great matchups and more often than not they do exactly that. The matchmaker Joe Silva has regularly been a big reason to why the UFC has been so popular. Silva creates dream matchups that are the lifeblood of the UFC and of MMA in general. There are the home run matchups like the Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz fights but this is not what has made Silva so good.
