It is not all about the Tigers though as their time at the top has also been a lot about the lack of competition around them in their own division.

The American League Central is a division on the decline in recent years but in 2013 a number of teams will try to bring the division back. The last few years this division has followed a very specific pattern as there is always one dominant team. That team used to be the Minnesota Twins who would win the division almost every year.
