Heavyweight fighters can often be the most exciting fighters in the world of combat sports as they provide the fans what they love, knockouts. Ending a fight is what fans want to see and whether it comes on the feet or on the mat there is little difference. There is something about a pure knockout though that makes fans stand up and makes fans remember that fight.

The UFC is a tough business to be in and it is a lot more than just the path that people have to climb to make their way up to a spot where they can live comfortably. It is about trying to stay as one of the top fighters in the UFC for an extended periods of time. Moving up in the rankings is hard enough in the UFC as fighters have to navigate the minefield that is the fight game. Anything can happen and anything can derail a fighter’s move up the rankings. An injury suffered in a fight could do anything from end a career to give the fighter a month long medical suspension.

The UFC is built on a system that has taken a lot of fire over recent years but one that rewards hard work above everything else. Winning is key in the UFC as it is the only way to become something in the promotion. Not only that but it is the only way to earn any money in the UFC as the low ranking fighters rarely clear enough to make a living. To earn the type of money that can make them a truly professional fighter they have to win and move their way up the rankings to earn fights on the main card and in the main event.

The UFC’s constant quest to get fighting legalized in every corner of the world to eliminate any limitations on where they can host an event one city remains the crown jewel. That city is New York as it has been the goal of Dana White for years. Imagine how big the UFC could do an event at Madison Square Garden and what type of money that would generate for them. Yet still the state of New York remains one of the few states in the USA that does not allow Mixed Martial Arts. In the USA 47 of the 52 states have legalized MMA and one of those remains New York despite the push from the UFC to legalize the sport.

The UFC travels to Atlantic City once again as they look to the lightweights to carry their most recent fight night card. It has become a constant for the UFC as they look to one of their most talented divisions in the promotion to provide an exciting fight. The lightweight division is one of the best divisions in the UFC as the amount of talent is so backed up that contenders can only fight each other while they wait for the champion to fight again.
