Can Calgary Remain the Class of the CanWest? (Hardy Cp Preview)

This year in the CanWest Conference saw familiar faces at the top with the Calgary Dinos and the Saskatchewan Huskies in the top two positions. The domination of the CanWest conference looked to continue for these two teams as the only competition for first place was each other for the 3 years in a row. CIS Football Report (Week 2)

The Laval Rouge et Or have been ranked #1 since week 2 in 2010 and took this ranking all the way to the Vanier Cup. They were undefeated all last year and have continued this trend into the 2011 season as they have now started 2-0. In week two the Rouge et Or were anything but as they wore their all black uniforms to take on their rivals from down Highway 40 the Montreal Carabins. The Carabins and Rouge et Or represent the two major cities in Quebec as Lval is based in Quebec City. They have also created a rivalry through their play as Laval has remained the top team in the CIS while Montreal is regularly among the Top 10 but struggles against their rival.

CanWest Ready for Homefield (CWUAA Preview)

Last year the Canada West sent a representative to the Vanier Cup as the Calgary Dinos repeated as Hardy Cup Champions and moved on to the finals. This year the CanWest conference will look to send another representative to the Vanier that will take place in their backyard, Vancouver, British Columbia. Last year the Dinos went back to the Vanier Cup for the second time in as many years but again came out on the losing end. In 2009 the Dinos fell to the Queen’s Golden Gaels and in 2010 they fell to the powerhouse from Quebec, Laval.
