NHL Week in Review (December 21-27)

The NHL took a much needed break this week as teams took some time off after a long start to the year. With the approach of the halfway point for most teams and a brand new year the Christmas break is a chance for players to clear their heads. They get to spend some time with family and stay away from the road while their bumps and bruises heal up. The next time these players get a break like this it will be for the all-star break when not all players get the chance to get away from hockey for a brief time.

NHL Week in Review (October 26-November 1)

The NHL has reached their first suedo-deadline of the season as it was time for the teams to make a decision on their young talent. Throughout the last few years young talent has been the key for many teams in making a difference. With the rise of the 20-somethings the league has become younger and a great young player can change everything about a team. The debate over whether to keep a young player in the league or send him back has become tougher and tougher every year with more young players having an impact.

The NHL is ever changing and as the league continues to grow it continues to become that much more complex. It wasn’t so long ago when the key to winning a Stanley Cup was adding veteran players to a team that could bring the experience needed to win in the league.
