It took a long time for Tim Raines to find his way to Cooperstown but the old school player got a boost from the new school and sabermetrics which became a major reason for his induction in the Class of 2017.

The 2013 Baseball Hall of Fame Class is missing from the Baseball Hall of Fame in a rare move for the voters. In 2013 no player was elected by the voters as only three players would hear their named called and all were by the veteran’s committee. It was a strange thing to see when the Hall of Fame class was announced for 2013 but it was for a reason. The Baseball writers were sending a message to those eligible for the Hall of Fame that cheating would not be tolerated.

The Hall of Fame is a place where the best of the best are honoured for each league yet is also a place that is the centre of the most debate in pro sports. Hall of Fames intend to honour the best players that have ever played in the league but many times people’s opinions differ. There are countless players who will never see the hall of fame unless they buy a ticket and then there are the handful that made an impact in the game to earn a spot.

The Baseball Hall of Fame has always been one of the toughest invites to get in professional sports with so few players going in every year. The baseball writers that select the inductees have no issue with turning away almost everyone in an attempt to keep the hall sacred. In some ways this is a good thing as there is a very firm gatekeeper in to the Hall that ensures only the best of the best make it in.

The Hall of Fame is always hard to get in to and there are countless players who will never be immortalized in any of the halls. More than most though the Baseball Hall of Fame is extremely hard to get into with only a few players getting in every year. This year is a perfect example as there will only be two inductees into the Hall of Fame with one coming in from the senior vote.

The Next class of the Baseball Hall of Fame will be announced Monday and their year could be more mundane than the upcoming years as a certain dark era begins to creep in. The Baseball Hall of Fame is one of the most exclusive halls in pro sports with only 202 MLB players in the hall out of the over 10,000 players that have played in the MLB.
