Out of all of the repeat champions none have been more dominant than the Laval Rouge et Or who have ruled the RSEQ for 10 years. They will be going for their 11th straight Dunsmore Cup as they represent the most dominant franchise in the CIS. Laval has defied all of the odds in the CIS as they have long since lost their original recruiting class that started the run of 10 straight.

It’s that time of year again in the CIS as the season begins to wind down and look to the playoffs with only four games left for most teams. As the season looks to the end every conference is beginning to see more clear who will be making the playoffs. It is past the halfway point of the season and so it is time to look back and look forward towards the playoffs and the Vanier Cup.

The CIS season officially got under way during Labour Day weekend as they continued a tradition of Canadian Football. For years Canadian Football has held the Labour Day weekend as a special weekend where the sport takes focus. For the CFL the Labour Weekend is a half way mark while for the CIS it is the beginning of a new season.

CIS Football Report (Semi-Finals Week)

The rest of the CIS conferences caught up to the OUA and played their Semi-Finals of the conference playoffs. With every conference involved this weekend the CIS was busy with plenty of great games, some that were too close for comfort. Every team involved was looking to take one more step towards there championship and to the Vanier Cup. Of course the first steps start on the Semi-Final weekend when teams play for their spot in the conference championships.

Will Laval Make it 7 in a Row? (Dunsmore Cup Preview)

The Laval Rouge et Or have been the big red machine in CIS football winning 6 Vanier Cups and 9 Dunsmore Cups. They have become the team to beat every year in the playoffs and throughout the season as they have been a top ranked team almost every year. This year was no different in the RSEQ as Laval remained the team that everyone looked up at. They were ranked #1 in the CIS for the first five weeks of the season with almost no team getting close to them.
