The Stanley Cup Playoffs are widely considered some of the toughest in the sports world as it is a grind. The playoffs are designed to break teams and players down to the point where they can no longer go on. It is the second season after one that is grinding in itself. The regular season is a long set of games where players have to stay mentally tough as well as physically tough. The sport values physicality as the players have to fly down the ice as fast as they can while risking the chance that another player will take them out with a big hit.

The youth movement in the NHL continues to grow every year as younger players are having a bigger impact in the league every year. Last year the 18-year old Nathan MacKinnon would light up the NHL and earn the Calder Trophy, becoming the youngest player to do so. This youth movement has made the draft one of the most important events of the NHL calendar.

It is that time of year again as the NHL regular season is over and only 16 teams will continue to play as the Stanley Cup playoffs begin. This year the playoffs will have a different look though as the NHL moves on with their new system for the first time ever. The NHL would make some massive changes this year in the playoff system when they changed the alignment of the teams. The alignment would give some teams a chance to play where they should have been all along while other teams would see a new set of division opponents.
