2012 was another great year in sports with plenty going on for everyone to enjoy and great stories around every corner. There was plenty to talk about throughout the sports world with great performances and inspirational performances. It wasn’t only limited to the USA or to Europe though as Canada had a very interesting year in sports.

The London 2012 Olympics are now officially finished as the flame has been extinguished and the athletes begin to head home. The greatest sporting event of the year wrapped up in two wild weeks that featured amazing achievements and crushing disappointments. There have been amazing stories featuring the best athletes in the world and their quest for gold.

As the London 2012 Games enter the last few days athletes continue to earn gold medals and continue to inspire a generation of future athletes. The performances and moments will live for generations for some as they remember the heroes of a country. The games will not completely end on Sunday though as a host of other athletes are making their way to London.

There are many aspects to the Olympic Games but the IOC honours three main parts to the games at every opening ceremony. There are the athletes who compete and provide everyone with memorable moments and who keep the world watching for two weeks. Then there are the coaches who are the unsung heroes of the games and prepare their athletes to perform on the biggest stage.
