Countries continue to race to the end of these Olympics but the committees of many countries have a big decision to make before it is all over. Countries must decide one of the biggest honours in the Olympics as the closing ceremony flag bearer is still to be decided. Every Olympics each country decides which athlete will carry the flag in to the arena during the opening and closing ceremonies. Generally the opening ceremony flag bearer is an athlete that has put some time into their countries efforts. These are athletes that have been in the Olympics before and have done well for their country.

Day 8 is over in the Olympics and the games have reached their halfway point with 8 more days until the focus of the sports world leaves Sochi. It has been a great games by all accounts so far with many of the worries before the games not making any big stories during the games. It was to be expected though as the reports of terrible accommodations and the issues in Russia itself have given way to the games and the athletes. It is one of the only sure things in the Olympics as there are always a number of issues that become the talk of the Olympics before the game begin.

The Olympics are a great display of many sports that the majority of sports fans never look for and never really try to watch. They are a number of sports that are not followed by the majority of people and that only take focus every four years. They are not full of stars and only have a few people that are recognized outside of the four years between games. They are the forgotten sports more often than not and are full of the forgotten athletes.
