Pride Returns (UFC on Fuel TV 8 Review)

The UFC would head to Japan for the first time in 2013 and the second time in as many years with one main purpose. They would return to Japan to bring back the glory of Japanese MMA when it was at it’ height. The UFC would bring back the Pride Fighting Championship to Japan by bringing back some of the brightest Pride stars.

The UFC has built its reputation on the every expanding world that it has created and helped for the sport of MMA. They have expanded from fighting in only Las Vegas once a month to holding three and sometimes four fights a month all over the world. One of the more recent places that the UFC has set up home is Japan but it is not a place that is unfamiliar with combat sports.

The UFC made more travel plans this past weekend as the biggest show in MMA ended a 4 week layoff by going to Stockholm, Sweden. It was yet another country for the UFC to try and take in the MMA world and they did just that.

There has been a lot going on in the UFC throughout the last month since the last time the UFC held a major fight. There has been the good like the new season of The Ultimate Fighter starting with live fights dominating Friday Nights in the UFC schedule as they look for the next fighter. Then there has been the bad as they saw #1 contender for the Heavyweight Title Allistair Overeem test positive for steroids.

Decisions, Decisions; Until the Main Event

UFC 136 had a thrilling card with a full card of good fights and many of them saw the full three, or five, rounds. On the entire card the fans saw three finished fights while the rest finished in a decision. Usually this can be boring but not in Houston as every fight was good and meant something to every fighter involved. Of course the biggest fights were at the end of the night when two belts were up for the taking. The Featherweight Title and the Lightweight Title were both up for grabs as the UFC saw two very quick and tough fights.

W2W: Thanksgiving Edition (Oct. 7-10)

Happy Thanksgiving weekend to all of us Canadians this weekend and what better way to spend the long weekend than with four days of sports. The Biggest aspect of this long weekend is the opening weekend of the NHL season as all of the favorite teams will be in action. Whether you are a fan of the Leafs or the Kings your game will be seen at some point. It is not only hockey this weekend however as the month of sports continues. The Baseball playoffs will finish the first round and enter the second round this weekend as they progress to the World Series.
