2017 Begins as 2016 Ended

2016 ended with a match-up between a legend and a relative unknown and 2017 began the same way as BJ Penn made his return against a relative unknown but the results were much the same.

TUF 19 ends on a High Note (TUF 19 Finale Review)

The Ultimate Fighter has already proven to change lives and has already been mentioned as a major reason for the growth of the sport. That would be expressed during International Fight Week in Las Vegas when Pat Miletich was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame. During the induction UFC President would announce potential plans for a future induction that would mean big things for the reality show. White expressed that he would love to see the entire The Ultimate Fighter season 1 cast inducted into the hall of fame.

TUF 19 Finale Preview

The factory of UFC talent continues to turn as The Ultimate Fighter finishes its 19th season at The Ultimate Fighter 19 Finale. It has become a constant throughout the calendar as there are two shows every year plus the international shows that continue to bring new fighters to the UFC. It has become a de-facto minor leagues of the UFC with young fighters and experienced fighters who have yet to get their shot earning spots in the UFC through the show.

Not All Things Change in Seattle (UFC on Fox 5 Review)

The UFC went to Seattle on Saturday in a fight card that could easily change the future of the UFC. It was not a fight that would change the path of the company like UFC 100 or UFC on Fox 1 would but for three weight classes it would determine the near future. For the Light Heavyweight and Welterweight divisions UFC on Fox 5 would show the future take on the past. In both fights a young up and coming star would take on the old guard in an attempt to show everyone that the new breed was ready to take over.

UFC on Fox 5 Preview

The UFC continues its deal with the Fox sports channels this weekend and like usual the free fight looks to be better than most pay per views. The UFC has been stuck in a pattern as of late as they have regularly put together great free fight cards and when it comes to the paid fights they tend to fall short.

The end of two Legendary Careers

UFC 137 saw three fights be made for their main event after Nick Diaz flaked on two press conferences without telling anyone and Georges St. Pierre suffered an injury during training. After the smoke cleared the main event would feature Nick Diaz who received his main event after all and BJ Penn who was looking to make one more run at the championship. The respect was there before the fight as Diaz had said he looked up to Penn before he became a fighter. During the weigh-in the fighters seemed to lose that respect after Diaz bumped heads with Penn and both fighters were separated.

What 2 Watch (Oct. 28-30)

The Sports World is beginning to wind down with winter coming in as seasons begin to end and playoffs start. The World Series is wrapping up with only one game left in a thrilling series where any team can win. With game 7 in the World Series the Baseball season will finish up this weekend as the football world sees the end and the middle of seasons.

UFC 137 Preview

The artist who makes the fight posters was busy over the last few months and not only because there were a lot of fights. There was a stretch of 4 fights at the beginning of the month and there will be another stretch of 4 events starting with UFC 137. This was the least of the artist’s worries as the poster for UFC 137 took enough work with the fight changing three times.
