The BCS goes out with a Bang (BCS National Championship Review)

The end of the BCS would go out with a great game that truly showed what the BCS ended up being all about. With a playoff coming in next year selected by a committee the BCS will no longer matter but it would go out with a somewhat familiar matchup. It was familiar because in a total of 9 games since the BCS was created in 1998 the SEC has seen their champion in the final game.

The rankings that were established in 1997 will be thrown out for what many believe to be a more fair system. The BCS has always come under fire for the way that they pick the top teams in the nation to face off in the National Championship.

The Bowl season is quickly coming to a close with only one week left in the NCAA’s postseason. The postseason has gone through plenty in the past few weeks with big wins and some very close games. As the next week of the bowl season begins the competition will only get better as better and better teams face off. 2011 NCAA Football Season Review

With Bowl Season on the horizon and the Army-Navy game in the books the NCAA season is officially finished. It was an interesting year with plenty of debates and many stories throughout the year. With a very up and down year and typical intense rivalries and big surprises the NCAA season was entertaining yet again.

The BCS is an evolution of the traditional college system. The system has not changed much since the first ever Rose Bowl in 1902 when the top ranked teams in the nation faced off on New Year’s Day.

This week was a big week in the NCAA as the first BCS rankings came out and started the speculation over the National Title. The Bowl Championship Series Rankings are the true rankings in the NCAA as all other rankings have a much smaller impact on the National Championship Game. The BCS rankings are created by a computer calculation that includes the AP Poll, Coaches Poll, Team Record, and Strength of Schedule to determine who the best team in the Nation is.
