The first rankings are out in the new playoff era as teams finally got to see where they stand in the playoff committee’s rankings. As much as the rankings before meant a lot to the teams they truly didn’t mean all that much in the end as the AP and Coaches’ poll has no bearing on the College Football Playoff. That is the end goal of every team in the NCAA as they all hope to find their way to the playoff and eventually to the National Championship.

It is that time of year as the college teams wait patiently to find out where they truly stand on the national stage. With only 7 weeks left in the regular season the playoff is fast approaching for the first time ever. The College Football Playoff is the biggest story of the year as for the first time ever the champion will be determined through a playoff. The top four teams in the final rankings will enter into a two round playoff where major bowls will serve as the semi-finals and the National Championship Game will determine the next College Football champion.

The end of the BCS would go out with a great game that truly showed what the BCS ended up being all about. With a playoff coming in next year selected by a committee the BCS will no longer matter but it would go out with a somewhat familiar matchup. It was familiar because in a total of 9 games since the BCS was created in 1998 the SEC has seen their champion in the final game.

The BCS National Championship is reaching an end as this year will be the last year of the BCS as we know it. The rankings that were established in 1997 will be thrown out for what many believe to be a more fair system. The BCS has always come under fire for the way that they pick the top teams in the nation to face off in the National Championship.

Championship week would once again clear plenty of things up for the NCAA as it was the last chance teams would have to show that they belong in the Top 25. Many teams would see their last games just hoping to make a big enough impression to earn a bowl bid. It was the last chance for teams to show that they can put on a great show in a bowl and some teams would accomplish this while other teams fell short. Then there was the teams sitting among the top ten of the BCS rankings who all were looking at a few big games that would change the face of the BCS.
