The American League has consistently been ruled by the East but the last few years have been a time for the Central to take over and with the moves made this year they will continue to take over with some very strong teams looking to make their way to the postseason.

The American League Central is a division that has had one ruler for a long time as the Detroit Tigers have been the dominant team for the majority of the 2010s.

The American League Central is a division that has been ruled by one team for years and that team has been the Detroit Tigers. The Tigers have been one of the most dominant teams in the MLB and have regularly been considered favourites to win the World Series. Thanks in large part to a great pitching staff the Tigers have ruled over the central for years. It is not all about the Tigers though as their time at the top has also been a lot about the lack of competition around them in their own division.

The American League Central is a division on the decline in recent years but in 2013 a number of teams will try to bring the division back. The last few years this division has followed a very specific pattern as there is always one dominant team. That team used to be the Minnesota Twins who would win the division almost every year.

With two and a half months gone in the 2012 season the MLB is beginning to even out now as the league begins to really take shape. The MLB is a long season and that means that there will be a lot of up and downs for teams. With 162 games a year losing or winning in the first few months means little unless you can extend that into the middle of the season.

The AL Central is one of the more competitive divisions in the MLB as there have been 4 champions since 2005. It has been so even that in 2009 it came down to a playoff game between the Chicago White Sox and the Minnesota Twins, the Twins won. Last year the division began to lose their competitiveness as one team was able to dominate the division.
