The NFC North is one of the oldest groups of teams in the league and there are some serious rivalries which is what makes things more frustrating for all teams when one team rules like the Packers have over the past six years.

The NFC North went from a one team division to a great battle in what looked like a new trend but there is still only one team to beat in the North.

The Year in Sports was a difficult one to figure out as the accomplishments of so many were often overshadowed by terrible actions of the few. It was a year where the Olympics provided great stories day in and day out and yet many to a backseat to other stories. Heroes rose in 2014 but they were not the stories that took precedence in 2014. Instead it was the fall of heroes that took most of the headlines this past year. It is a common occurrence in the world of sports especially with the evolution of the sports world.

The playoff race is heating up in the NFL as the first team has been eliminated from the playoffs with only six weeks left in the season. As teams continue to march towards the playoffs or simply towards the offseason they are starting to prove exactly what type of team they have. Whether they are a team that simply doesn’t have what it takes to compete with the best teams. More than that though are the emergence of the superstars of 2014 as the halfway point is gone and the top players begin to prove that they are for real.

The NFL season has officially reached the halfway point as the playoff run approaches quickly and teams prepare themselves for the potential to play late in the winter. It is a good landmark for teams to figure out where they stand and what they might need to do in order to find their way into the postseason with the season closing fast. Heading into the season there were plenty of teams that were looked upon as the strongest in the league. That included the defending champions in the Seattle Seahawks who looked like the best team in the league.
